What this site does

On this site you can create pdf reports that measure or quantify the fire history and fire management of the remote and rural areas across northern Australia. You can also download booklets on guidelines for weeds, pest animals, threatened species and wildlife management for the whole of the NT.

The fire reports can show the areas burnt by fire scars in each month of a selected year in a selected area or can profile the long term fire history of that area. Fire Scar and Fire History reports are only available where there has been extensive 250m scale fire scar mapping: in the NT, in the WA rangelands and in far northern Queensland.

How to create a report

1. Select the Generate Reports option in the tool bar above the map (pre-selected when you enter the site)

2. Create the area you want to report on by either navigating to the area you want and then using the Draw Boundary tools - or by choosing from a range of pre-set area in the drop-down menu. The pre-set areas allow for more consistent reporting on an area as the boundaries don't change even by a small amount.

3. Choose the report you want: Fire histories, Fire Scars, Booklets (All NT only)

4. In the case of the Fire Scars and Booklets, you can then select from a number of sub-options, such as the year covered or the type of booklet, before you click the link or the Get Report button. For the Fire History reports just click the Get Report button.

5. The pdf report should then download in less than a minute - somewhat longer on slow connections. You can then save this report on your computer.
